84. The “Black Lives Matter Movement”. The results are meagre, the movement should get new action ideas.

Each year many black Americans are killed. The Movement “Black Lives Matter” has only meagre results. The secondary position of blacks in the USA (and elsewhere) continues. After a killing demonstrations are organised that lead to fights with the police and more blacks are imprisoned, wounded or even killed. These actions are dubious, they are restricted to fights between different parts of the 99% as the police. Hardly anyone listens. The 1% and their servants who cause most damage to the 99% are not pressured and influenced at all.
The world is split in two parts, the affluent and powerful 1% (and their servants) and the 99% who make the products that are used by the top class. Part of the 99% have a reasonable life by obeying the orders that come from above. But another part has a difficult life and many can hardly reach a higher level. To these people belong of course the about two billion people who are still undernourished.

In richer countries many people are excluded from a future that in some ways resembles the life of the 1%. In the USA a lot of blacks live in a kind of ghettos with low incomes, bad education and an uncertain future. It is not strange that common criminality is wide-spread. Many blacks are imprisoned. This is in contradiction to the financial criminality of richer people who are hardly arrested.

The Movement Black Lives Matter does not have an agenda to change the basic reasons for the killing of many blacks. That is not the police (though they are not very kind against blacks) but the lack of money for good housing and good education. Money streams towards schools for richer people while poorer schools are bad and crowded. This money stream is controlled by the 1% and their servants just as the police is ordered to use violence against anyone who disturbs the satisfactory life of the top of society.

Change is only possible when the top of society is pressured. Now the 1% continue to get more money and society does not change. The position of  blacks in the USA remains dangerous. Fighting with lower police officers does not help. After each action there are many arrests, wounded and even killed people while people on top continue to take inhuman and selfish decisions.

The leaderless Movement Black Lives Matter only get success when decision-takers are pressured to change their policy. Past movements have proven that the basic situation has not changed. The police and the blacks are all 99% and both sides are wounded and even killed after demonstrations. The 1% have become richer and more powerful, while the 99% are even more dependent on the caprices of decision-takers. For real change actions against the 1% are necessary.

About Joost van Steenis

My latest book "How to make Revolution, developing the Fourth People's Power", can be downloaded for free from my site http://members.chello.nl/jsteenis. It contains new ideas how to take the money and power away from the most powerful people, the elite. It strives to get a new society in which not money is the pivotal point of all discussions but the idea that all people have the same status. New action means are introduced to reach this paradigm shift (a revolution) that concentrate on direct actions in the living sphere of the elite.
