97. Actions are not very successful. They often damage the 99%. People over 30 years hardly take part in actions.

We need a new kind of actions. Successes are rare, damage to the 99% too big, disturbing the life of the 1% hardly present.
What is the result of actions against Trump? Does anyone think that Trump stops being president because of actions? That does not happen. The disruptJ20 actions made some people active but soon they saw that actions again did not have any success. Then they stop being activist and try to make the best of their life without bothering what happens.

In Germany there are this month actions against the G20. There will be some disturbances in the streets around the meeting that only disturb citizens and not the representatives inside. The meeting will just take place.

The noDAPL actions against new oil pipelines have failed. The pipeline will be finished with more police that protect the construction. All damage is again to activists and police who all belong to the 99%. The 1% are not disturbed at all and get more money with the pipeline.

Prison strike actions had also not much success. The many prisoners are still in bad prisons and are often treated not very nice.

The actions of “Black Lives Matter” after the Ferguson murder of a black youth have the same negative results. Blacks are still killed by the police. People are angry but in actions only common citizens are hurt and arrested. The top of the police is not pressured and does not change their decisions. Again the actions have not helped much.

Of course I like it when many people are active against the idiotic situation that the 99% are secondary people. But for change we need successful actions. Demonstrations in town centres and fights with the police only hurt us and the police and not the people who decide.

We should be active against people who take wrong decisions that only benefit themselves. These bad people do not live in town centres but in huge mansions in the outskirts. They are never disturbed, only we are time and again disturbed by their decisions.

We need actions against people at the top of society. They control what we do and use the police to punish us as we do something else. We need actions that avoid fights with the police but direct pressure the 1% and their servants.

I hope we start to use many small and easy actions by small groups against people who take decisions. That is more successful and less damaging to the 99%. When the top of society cannot live their extravagant life, they start to listen to us. With the present actions they continue to take wrong decisions. That millions of 99% are damaged by these decisions is not important. Leaders are not disturbed and why should they listen to us?

About Joost van Steenis

My latest book "How to make Revolution, developing the Fourth People's Power", can be downloaded for free from my site http://members.chello.nl/jsteenis. It contains new ideas how to take the money and power away from the most powerful people, the elite. It strives to get a new society in which not money is the pivotal point of all discussions but the idea that all people have the same status. New action means are introduced to reach this paradigm shift (a revolution) that concentrate on direct actions in the living sphere of the elite.
