112. Why are the 1% never attacked? The world is ruled by money and the super-rich rule undisturbed.

The world only changes when the power of the few powerful people on top of the world is undermined. Therefore we need the “Movement against the 1%” that inspires common citizens to carry out many thousands of small actions that disturb the private life of very rich top-people who constantly disturb the private life of the 99%.
The present political actions have hardly positive results and are even hardly noticed by decision-takers. Demonstrations may inspire common citizens but they get only a few lines in the media that are not read by top-people. Other actions are controlled by the police so why should top-people bother. We need a different kind of actions that penetrate the minds of people who take decisions that are beneficial for their own life and negatively disturb our life.

Despite the often great activities of common people the nearly untouchable 1% remain on top of society dominating common people and getting more and more money to support their growing power. All societies are ruled by a few very wealthy people supported by a few high-placed servants with very high incomes. There are hardly any actions against them and the same top-people remain many years, often till they die, on top of society. Society is organised in a strange way, the rich are on top and the people down under have to work hard to give top-people even more power (and money). The “Movement against the 1%” should pressure these people and care for it that the very rich cannot anymore use the vast amounts of money they have stolen from us to dominate the 99%.

Most present actions are inspired by organisations in which again a few leading people decide and members have to follow their orders. These actions never target the highest power, the 1%. It can hardly be expected that actions have positive results when they are organised by leaders who do not want to be removed from their high positions because of disappointing results. When we want a better society we should not use organisations that copy the power relations in the old society. Organisations are dominated by a few people who remain for a very long time on top. With a few friends we should undertake small and not very punishable actions (small because we do not want to be arrested and imprisoned) against people on top of society who organise our life on their method. It will be a pleasure to carry out such actions. For this kind of actions we need small, leaderless Autonomous Clubs.

About Joost van Steenis

My latest book "How to make Revolution, developing the Fourth People's Power", can be downloaded for free from my site http://members.chello.nl/jsteenis. It contains new ideas how to take the money and power away from the most powerful people, the elite. It strives to get a new society in which not money is the pivotal point of all discussions but the idea that all people have the same status. New action means are introduced to reach this paradigm shift (a revolution) that concentrate on direct actions in the living sphere of the elite.
