Mov. 29. With actions we want to change society. But why are the 1% never the target of any action?

The world is ruled by the 1%, by a few extremely rich people supported by well-paid and high-placed mercenaries. They control the 99% who have to follow their orders. All past efforts to get another society in which the 99% have the same power as a few ruling and egoistic top-people have failed. Though many 99% carried out individual actions, most resistance against greedy rulers came from organisations that were comparable with how the old society was organised. A few top-revolutionaries gave orders that members carried out. When the revolution succeeded a new kind of 1% ruled while the 99% still did not have much influence on decisions that were taken far above them.

To get a better kind of society the 99% must act independently from any leaders. Activists may use advices of more experienced revolutionaries but they should not follow orders from above. They should carry out actions they choose themselves. Then we may get a society in which common citizens are not anymore ruled by a few very rich rulers. We must undermine the life of the present rulers so that in a new society selfish rulers cannot rule anymore. Common citizens should learn (in the struggle) how they decide themselves what they should do.

The present organisation of society leads to a great inequality. We see that in armies. Top-people decide what soldiers have to do and the result is that in wars the order-giving top-people are hardly ever killed while many soldiers do not survive. To get another kind of society we should not use rulers who decide how their followers should act but just have common citizens who act independently. Therefore fighters who want a better society should organise themselves in small independent Autonomous Clubs who act individually from each other.

Though most revolutions started with big movements in which common citizens acted in an individual way, soon movements changed in organisation quite equal to the organisations in the present society, a few people rule and the masses have to follow. Movements should still be used but revolutionary organisations should remain a kind of leaderless movements with independent and individual fighters. Some people may advice what could be done but they may never order fighters how to behave.

About Joost van Steenis

My latest book "How to make Revolution, developing the Fourth People's Power", can be downloaded for free from my site It contains new ideas how to take the money and power away from the most powerful people, the elite. It strives to get a new society in which not money is the pivotal point of all discussions but the idea that all people have the same status. New action means are introduced to reach this paradigm shift (a revolution) that concentrate on direct actions in the living sphere of the elite.
