Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos are the first two people who possess more than 100 billion dollar. At the same time the number of people who do not know if they have the next day enough money to buy the food to survive is also increasing. More than a billion people – fifteen percent of all people on our earth – belong to this group. And hardly anybody does somewhat against this terrible fact. No, the rich have to become richer and what happens to the not-rich people is secondary.
Money rules, a few people get more and what happens with the rest is not important. Decisions are prepared by people who think in first place about the position of the very rich people above them – the luxurious life of the 1% has to become more extravagant. Lower decision-takers are educated and trained by semi-top people who live very close to the extremely rich people who are only motivated by getting much more money. These few top-people give advises that must be obeyed by lower placed decision-takers. The 99%, the masses of common citizens, have no possibility at all to influence any decision. We are ruled by a Deep State of people who think in the same way – caring for it that the rich become richer.
This situation exists already many centuries. There may be some protests about the low wages of common citizens but attacks on the high incomes of the rich do not exist. In the last five year the wages of the average worker in my country, the Netherlands, hardly increased. But the profits of the 75 biggest Dutch concerns doubled. We must pressure high-placed and high-paid decision-takers and the few very rich people who never take decisions that are negative for top-people. Otherwise the growing inequality continues to dominate our world.
To get another kind of decision-takers we should start to enforce a new rule. Nobody should have the right to spend any year more than 200.000 dollar. This will undermine extreme luxury for the few people – much less than 1% of all people – who have too much money and who now easily increase their wealth and their possessions. To get less extreme luxury is also a good decision to defend the climate in such a way that all people can have a reasonable life.
